Summer Cooling Advice

Finding it hard to stay cool in the heat? Here are our top tips, and contact us to find out more:

1. Cooling your neck and feet helps to cool down your whole body. Use a shallow bowl with water for your feet - just a couple of centimetres of water will do the trick

2. Don't let the heat in! Make sure curtains and binds are closed during the day, opening windows early and late to allow the cool air to cool down your home

3. Cross-ventilate - open windows at the front and rear of your home and make sure internal doors are open so a through-draft can pull cool air through your home. Do this early and late in the day when the air is coolest

4. Fans vs Air Conditioning - Fans use an average of 50w whereas Air Con uses an average of 2000w! Only use Air Con as a last resort as you could run many fans for the same cost! Evaporation coolers - fans that deliver a water mist spray - are a good option to try as they average 60w but can offer greater cooling compared to a standard fan, though they need filling with water and add to humidity
