Thinking Works' Director, Giles Read helped launch the Big London Energy Switch with Ed Davey, former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. The Big London Energy Switch, an initiative that uses collective energy buying power to get lower energy prices for customers held its first auction on the 9th of April 2013 with regular auctions to date.

Thinking Works helped residents of Kingston and Richmond who did not have internet access register for the scheme and held drop-in centre sessions where local residents could register. 

The first auction was hailed an unprecedented success with the highest number of offline registrations recorded for any collective switching project.
